AI & Systems Opportunity Review

A fixed-scope, paid diagnostic that identifies your next useful operating improvement, and the practical stages that should follow it.

1–3 weeks · Fixed-scope diagnostic · Senior-led · Fixed fee confirmed after a short scoping conversation

Salix starts with the operational problem, not the tool. The AI & Systems Opportunity Review is the front door to every Salix AI engagement: before we recommend an app, an automation, a dashboard, or an AI workflow, we confirm what is actually slowing the work down and what is ready to change.

If you are searching for an AI readiness assessment in South Africa, this is the closest thing we offer, with one difference: it does not stop at AI. The review looks at the whole operating picture: workflow, data, reporting, current systems, user behaviour, and change readiness. AI is one of the options it weighs, not the assumed answer.

Who it is for

The review is built for organisations that know work is slow, manual, risky, or hard to see, but are not sure whether the answer is a better spreadsheet, cleaner data, an app, a dashboard, an automation, an AI workflow, or a change in operating process.

It usually starts with a sentence like one of these:

  • “We are still doing this in Excel.”
  • “Everyone has a different version of the numbers.”
  • “This process depends on one person.”
  • “We want to use AI, but we do not know where it is safe or useful.”
  • “We built something already, but no one knows how to maintain it.”
  • “Our project context, decisions, and handovers are scattered.”
  • “We need something useful quickly, but cannot afford a fragile prototype.”

If any of those sound familiar, the review will pay for itself in clarity alone.

What happens

The review runs over one to three weeks, depending on the number of processes and stakeholders in scope. It is a working diagnostic, not a slide-deck exercise: we sit with the people who do the work.

A typical review covers:

  • Stakeholder interviews and working sessions
  • Process and pain-point mapping
  • A review of current apps, spreadsheets, reporting, and automations, including any Power Platform estate
  • A data and integration readiness check
  • An AI opportunity and risk scan: where AI is safe and useful in your business, and where it is not yet
  • A change readiness assessment: leadership alignment, adoption risks, and likely barriers
  • Where knowledge, templates, and decision habits are scattered, an Operational DNA scan. Operational DNA helps organisations turn scattered knowledge, templates, processes, and decision habits into reusable AI-assisted workflows.
  • A fit assessment across the staged options: structured workbook, app, automation, dashboard, AI workflow, custom software, or hybrid architecture

The output is not a technology shortlist. It is a prioritised view of what should improve now, what should mature later, and what has to be true before a larger build is worth the money.

What you receive

Three deliverables, in plain language, owned by you whether or not Salix AI does the next stage of work.

1

Diagnostic Findings Pack

An operational pain-point map; current-state notes on systems, spreadsheets, reporting, and automations; a process and data readiness assessment; AI opportunity and risk observations; a change readiness assessment; and a high-level view of risks and dependencies.

2

Staged Value Recommendation

A prioritised opportunity list and a recommended next useful improvement, with the staged path from where you are to a more mature system. Where AI is relevant, we set out the context, trace, and evaluation considerations that need to be in place before an AI workflow can be trusted in production. Platform and architecture notes are included where they matter.

3

First-90-Day Plan

A concrete plan for the first ninety days: the recommended first improvement, proof of concept, or operating change, sequenced so value lands early. Where a proof of concept is the right next step, the plan includes a POC brief for the highest-value opportunity.

What happens next

Salix AI helps businesses solve operational problems. We create value early, confirm the process and data, and then evolve the right system in practical stages: better spreadsheets, apps, automations, dashboards, AI workflows, custom software, or hybrid architecture, using platforms such as Microsoft’s Power Platform where they fit.

The review is the Diagnose stage of that approach. What follows depends on what the diagnosis finds. Sometimes the next stage is a structured workbook or a clearer operating rhythm: value in days, not months. Sometimes it is an AI-Native App POC to prove a workflow in two to four weeks. Sometimes it is a production build, a reporting layer, or an Operational DNA Assessment. Each stage is chosen because it is useful now, easy enough to support, and informs the stage after it.

We hold one view throughout: AI makes software easier to build. It does not make business systems easier to operate. So every recommendation considers who will own the system, how it will be maintained, and what has to be monitored after go-live, not just what could be built.

And because the deliverables are yours, you are free to take the plan forward with your own team or another partner. The recommendation is documented so you understand why it is appropriate now, what it proves, and what it will take to operate.

Common questions

Sometimes an app is the right next step. Sometimes the process, data, or users are not ready yet. In those cases, a better spreadsheet, structured workbook, dashboard, or operating rhythm can create value sooner and reduce the risk of building the wrong system. The review exists to tell the difference before money is spent.

It includes one. The review covers AI readiness - where AI is safe and useful in your business, what data and process foundations it needs, and what governance it requires. But it also covers the rest of the operating picture, because in most businesses the highest-value first improvement is not always an AI workflow.

Microsoft’s Power Platform is still one of the platforms we use, especially in Microsoft-heavy environments. But Salix AI is not limited to that platform. We start with the operational problem, create the next useful improvement, and then choose the right implementation route.

Software agencies are useful when the main problem is engineering capacity. Salix AI is useful when the main problem is deciding what should be improved first, how the process should work, how data should be structured, how the system should be adopted, and how it will operate after go-live.

The work should not end at launch. Salix AI operates what it builds: systems we deliver are monitored, patched, and improved after they ship, and AI workflows are checked against private evals and traces so they stay trustworthy as models, prompts, and data change. How that ongoing care works is agreed as part of the recommendation.
